Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state:
(a) whether with the special budgetary allocation made by the
Government a comprehensive Master Plan is being formulated for
the development of eminent sites and monuments in Rajasthan so
that they remain as model sites;
(b) if so, the details thereof including the major items of work to be
executed at these sites;
(c) whether the Government proposes to identified other such places
also for development in future and if so, the details thereof;
(d) the contribution proposed to be given by the Union Government in
developing Rajasthan from the tourism point of view; and
(e) the manner in which the Government proposes to develop the
religious historical places and desert areas in Rajasthan?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT)
(a) to (e): Development and promotion of tourist destinations and
tourism products is primarily undertaken by the respective State
Government/Union Territory (UT) Administration. However, the Ministry of
Tourism under its central sector scheme of Swadesh Darshan provides
financial assistance to the State Governments for development of tourism
infrastructure. This scheme has now been revamped as Swadesh Darshan
2.0. Guidelines of the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme envisage
development of destination master plan based on benchmarking and
detailed gap assessment. The details of the projects sanctioned under
SD2.0 scheme in the State of Rajasthan is at Annexure-I.In addition to the above, financial assistance to the State
Governments/UT Administrations/Central Agencies under the central
sector schemes of Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD),
Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive
(PRASHAD), Assistance to Central Agencies (ACA) and Special
Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) is also provided for
development of tourism amenities and experiences. The details of the
projects sanctioned under PRASHAD, ACA and SASCI schemes including
religious, historical and desert areas in the State of Rajasthan is at
Annexure-II.
