SHRI SUDHAKAR SINGH: Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to state: (a) whether the foundation stone of Rs. 64 crore project for the conservation and development of the Gokul Reservoir situated in the Buxar district of Bihar was laid around two years ago; (b) if so, the present status of the said project along with the details of the progress made therein; (c) the total amount of funds sanctioned and actually utilized under this project so far; and (d) whether any revised timeline has been fixed for the completion of the project and if not, the reasons for the delay along with the steps being taken to resolve the same? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE (SHRI KIRTI VARDHAN SINGH) (a) to (d): MoEF&CC had sanctioned the Integrated Management Plan (IMP) for conservation and management of Gokul Jalashay in Buxar, Bihar on 17.10.2024 at a total cost of Rs. 32.483 crore for five years under the National Plan for Conservation of Aquatic Ecosystems (NPCA) scheme on 60:40 cost-sharing between the Central and State Governments. As per the information provided by the State Government of Bihar, the works undertaken include installation of geo-tagged pillars along the wetland boundary, installation of information boards highlighting the ecological significance of the wetland, organization of awareness workshops and festivals, including the annual Gokul Jalashay Bird Festival to promote waterbird conservation, celebration of important public events to enhance awareness regarding wetland conservation, production and dissemination of resource materials for awareness and capacity building, and identification of suitable locations for establishing water quality sampling stations. So far, an amount of Rs. 25.34 lakhs has been utilized for implementation of the IMP. Since the duration of the IMP is five years i.e. till the end of financial year 2028-29, revised timeline is not a requisite at present. ******
