**Summary:**

(a) the status of development works being carried out by the
Government on National Highways(NHs) 848A and 848B;
(b) the total amount of funds released for the construction of NH 848A
and NH 848B in each financial year since 2016 and the utilisation of
funds thereon, year-wise;
(c) the original deadlines set for completion of the construction works
of these highways; and
(d) whether any cost overruns have occurred and if so, the revised
deadlines along with the amount of cost overrun thereon?

(a) to (d) NHs 848A and 848B passes through the States of Maharashtra
and Gujarat and Union Territories of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman &
Diu. The development and maintenance of National Highways (NHs) is a
continuous process. Total 10 projects costing Rs. 661 crores have been
sanctioned by the Government for improvement and development of
these NHs since 2016. Out of these 10 projects, 6 projects costing Rs.
190 crores have been completed and remaining 4 projects are under
various stages of implementation with target for completion of these
projects in a phased manner in the Financial Year 2027-28. As on date,an expenditure of Rs. 290 crores has been incurred on the
implementation of these projects.
There have been delays in implementation of on-going work for
construction of ROB with approaches on NH – 848B at Karambeli
Railway Crossing L.C.No.77 in Gujarat on account of issues related to
land acquisition and other pre-construction activities. These issues have
been resolved and revised scheduled date of completion is 31.12.2026.
The remaining 3 no of works are targeted for completion within the
original timelines.
