CONSTRUCTION OF NH FROM CHAUSA TO VARANASI
3152. SHRI SUDHAKAR SINGH:
Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS

be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has conducted any survey, feasibility
study or examination for the construction of a four-lane National
Highway from Chausa in Buxar district of Bihar to Varanasi in Uttar
Pradesh, if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Chausa–Varanasi route is of significant religious,
cultural, commercial and transportation importance;
(c) whether the existing road is inadequate to handle the traffic
volume, resulting in frequent traffic congestion, accidents and loss
of travel time;
(d) whether any survey or proposal for the said project has been
initiated and if so, the current status thereof along with the
estimated cost, progress of land acquisition and target timeline for
completion of the project; and
(e) if not, whether the Government proposes to accord priority to
the Chausa–Varanasi fourlane route and approve the project in the
near future to boost connectivity, trade and tourism between Bihar
and Uttar Pradesh, if so, the details thereof?ANSWER

(a) to (e) Government keeps on receiving/ undertaking/ preparing
Detailed Project Report (DPR)/proposals for widening/development
of National Highways (NHs) in the country. Decision for project
implementation and investment is taken based on the outcome of
DPR, requirement of connectivity, traffic density, synergy with PM
Gati Shakti National Master Plan etc. With regard to stretch from
Varanasi to Chausa is concerned, the stretch from Varanasi to
Ghazipur has already been 4-laned and the DPR for widening of
balance stretch for Ghazipur to Chausa (Buxar) shall be taken up.
