Parliament Question: Construction of railway overbridge near Dhola Junction in Bhavnagar district in Gujarat

O.I.H GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 916 ANSWERED ON 06.02.2026 CONSTRUCTION OF RAILWAY OVERBRIDGE NEAR DHOLA JUNCTION IN BHAVNAGAR DISTRICT IN GUJARAT 916# SHRI SHAKTISINH GOHIL: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) the date on which the contract was awarded for the construction of railway over-bridge near Dhola Junction in Bhavnagar district in Gujarat; (b) the expenditure incurred on this project so far; (c) the stipulated time frame for completion of this work; (d) the responsibility fixed for the delay in completion of the work; and (e) the steps being taken by Government to ensure early completion of the over-bridge at Dhola Junction? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (e): The State Government of Gujarat has approached Railways for the construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Km 121/4–5 at a non–level crossing location between Dhola and Sanosara stations on the Dhola Bypass on deposit terms at their own cost. Railways have accorded all necessary approvals required for the execution of the work. Work has been taken up at site. As per information collected from State Govt., the contract has been awarded. The expenditure incurred till date is ₹ 7.26 Crore. Utility shifting for this project has been completed. 09 Nos. piers out of 20 Nos. have been completed. The work for PSC girder launching has been taken up. Tender for the balance work has been taken up by Roads and Buildings (R&B) department, State Government of Gujarat. Completion of any ROB/RUB work depends on various factors like, fixing of approach alignment, approval of General Arrangement Drawing (GAD), land acquisition, removal of encroachment, shifting of infringing utilities, statutory clearances from various authorities, law and order situation in the area of project / work sites, number of working months in a year for particular project / work sites due to climatic conditions etc. All these factors affect the completion time of the projects / works. *****
