Shri Chandra Prakash Joshi: Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the amount of Corporate Social Responsibility funds spent by various corporate entities in the Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan specifically in the same area; (b) whether it is true that various undertakings/entities in the discharge of their social responsibilities allocate their CSR funds to the companies/NGOs established by them; (c) if so, the details of the number and types of such institutions across the country; and (d) the details of the manner in which CSR activities have been undertaken by various entities in Rajasthan during the last three years? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS [SHRI HARSH MALHOTRA] (a): All data related to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) filed by companies in MCA21 registry is available in public domain and can be accessed at www.csr.gov.in. On the basis of annual filings made by companies in the MCA21 registry, CSR expenditure by Companies in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan during last three Financial Years 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 is at Annexure-I. (b) & (c): Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013 (‘the Act’) read with Rule 4(1) of the Companies (CSR Policy) Rules, 2014 provides that the company is empowered to undertake its CSR activities either by the company itself or through- i. a company established under section 8 of the Act, or a registered public trust or a registered society, exempted under sub-clauses (iv), (v), (vi) or (via) of clause (23C) of section 10 or registered under section 12A and approved under 80 G of the Income Tax Act, 1961 (43 of 1961), established by the company, either singly or along with any other company; or ii. a company established under section 8 of the Act or a registered trust or a registered society, established by the Central Government or State Government; or iii. any entity established under an Act of Parliament or a State legislature; or iv. a company established under section 8 of the Act, or a registered public trust or a registered society, exempted under sub-clauses (iv), (v), (vi) or (via) of clause (23C) of section 10 or registered under section 12A and approved under 80 G of the Income Tax Act, 1961, and having an established track record of at least three years in undertaking similar activities. As per information filed by the companies, 3120 companies/entities have been established under category (i) above.
