GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 5788 ANSWERED ON MONDAY, MARCH 30, 2026 / Chaitra 09, 1948 (Saka) CSR PROJECTS BY PSUS IN TAMIL NADU QUESTION 5788. Thiru D M Kathir Anand: Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) the total number of CSR projects implemented by all Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in Tamil Nadu during the current financial year particularly in Vellore Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency; (b) the details of the amount of funds allocated by the PSUs for CSR activities in the said State during the last three years particularly in Vellore Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency; and (c) whether the PSUs proposes to approve and implement any new CSR projects for development, public welfare and expansion of basic amenities in the State and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS [SHRI HARSH MALHOTRA] (a): All data related to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) filed by companies in MCA21 registry including project wise is available in public domain and can be accessed at www.csr.gov.in. The Ministry does not maintain parliamentary constituency-wise CSR data centrally. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs had allowed all companies to complete their annual filings including that of CSR expenditure pertaining to FY 2024-25 till 31st January, 2026 without payment of additional fees. Companies are still in process of filing for FY 2024-25. As the filing date for the financial year 2025-26 is not due yet, the information on CSR expenditure by PSUs for the Financial Year 2025-26 is not available. (b): There is no provision for allocation of CSR funds to States or UTs under the Companies Act, 2013 (‘Act’). On the basis of annual filings made by companies in the MCA21 registry, District-wise and Development Sector wise CSR expenditure by PSUs in Tamil Nadu during the Financial Years 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 is at Annexure- I and Annexure-II respectively. (c): Under the Act, CSR is a Board driven process and the Board of the company is empowered to plan, decide, execute and monitor the CSR activities based on the recommendations of its CSR Committee. *****Annexure-I Refer to part (b) of Lok Sabha Unstarred Question no. 5788 for 30.03.2026 (Amount in Rupees Crore) District-wise CSR expenditure in Tamil Nadu by PSUs for FY 2021-22 to 2023-24 Sr. FY FY FY Districts No. 2021-22 2022-23 2023-24 1 Ariyalur - - - 2 Chengalpattu - - - 3 Chennai 29.12 17.08 73.69 4 Coimbatore 0.32 2.41 13.36 5 Cuddalore 17.34 20.87 40.96 6 Dharmapuri - 0.05 0.68 7 Dindigul 0.33 2.16 6.00 8 Erode - 0.17 0.17 9 Kallakurichi - - - 10 Kancheepuram 0.97 5.47 4.54 11 Kanniyakumari 0.17 0.17 0.43 12 Karur 1.10 6.96 0.23 13 Krishnagiri 0.15 0.11 1.09 14 Madurai 3.31 5.93 9.63 15 Mayiladuthurai - - - 16 Nagapattinam 0.47 0.54 2.68 17 Namakkal 0.49 - - 18 Perambalur 0.03 - 0.23 19 Pudukkottai - 0.06 - 20 Ramanathapuram 0.86 2.00 2.19 21 Ranipet 0.06 - - 22 Salem 0.14 1.93 4.00 23 Sivaganga 0.62 0.55 0.49 24 Tenkasi - - - 25 Thanjavur - 0.53 1.28 26 The Nilgiris 0.10 0.11 0.84 27 Theni - 0.26 0.06 28 Thiruvallur 0.43 0.10 0.96 29 Thiruvarur - 0.08 0.93 30 Thoothukkudi 1.21 0.16 1.87 31 Tiruchirappalli 0.26 0.75 1.22 32 Tirunelveli - 0.07 - 33 Tirupathur - - - 34 Tiruppur - - - 35 Tiruvannamalai - - 0.72 36 Vellore 0.55 1.14 0.80 37 Viluppuram 0.89 1.41 0.46 38 Virudhunagar 0.03 1.41 0.95 39 District not classified elsewhere 15.69 30.17 3.27 Total 74.65 102.65 173.74 (Data upto 31.03.2025) (Source: Corporate Data Management Cell) *****Annexure-II Refer to part (b) of Lok Sabha Unstarred Question no. 5788 for 30.03.2026 (Amount in Rupees Crore) Development Sector-wise CSR expenditure by PSUs for FY 2021-22 to 2023-24 Sr. FY FY FY Development Sector No. 2021-22 2022-23 2023-24 1 Agro forestry - - 0.33 2 Animal welfare 0.20 0.05 0.26 Armed Forces, Veterans, War Widows/ 3 0.10 - 0.01 Dependants 4 Art and culture 0.17 27.31 1.90 5 Conservation of natural resources - - 0.56 6 Education 29.00 36.39 35.85 7 Environmental sustainability 16.06 3.04 16.73 8 Gender equality - 0.17 0.17 9 Health care 17.91 16.39 74.26 10 Livelihood enhancement projects 0.50 - 0.05 11 Poverty, Eradicating Hunger, Malnutrition 0.18 0.76 2.46 12 Rural development projects 1.37 1.19 22.02 13 Safe drinking water 1.17 1.43 2.97 14 Sanitation 5.10 7.18 2.96 15 Senior Citizens Welfare 0.07 0.07 0.30 16 Setting up homes and hostels for women - - 0.55 17 Slum area development - - 2.67 18 Socio-economic equalities - - 0.90 19 Special education - 0.70 0.60 20 Training to promote sports 0.31 2.38 6.28 21 Vocational skills 2.51 2.93 0.69 22 Women empowerment - 2.65 1.22 Total 74.65 102.65 173.74 (Data upto 31.03.2025) (Source: Corporate Data Management Cell) *****
