SHRI DURAI VAIKO: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has examined my representations 24/141/GOI/TN/001220250571 seeking the conversion of Train No. 20681/20682, Silambu Superfast Express, into a daily service; (b) if so, the action taken by the Government on the said representations; (c) whether the Ministry has assessed the passenger demand and operational feasibility for converting the train into a daily service; and (d) if so, the proposed timeline for making Train No. 20681/20682 a daily service, and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (d) The issue pertaining to the increase in frequency of tri-weekly service of 20681/20682 Tambaram–Sengottai Silambu Express has been examined. At present, Tambaram - Sengottai sector is served by the 4 pairs of train services as under: SN Train No. and Name 1 12661/12662 Chennai Egmore - Sengottai Express (daily) 2 16101/16102 Tambaram - Kollam Express (daily) 3 20681/20682 Tambaram - Sengottai Silambu Express (Tri-weekly) § Page 1 of 34 20683/20684 Tambaram - Sengottai Express (Tri-weekly) These also include the daily services of 12661/12662 Chennai Egmore - Sengottai Express and 16101/16102 Tambaram - Kollam Express which are catering to the needs of passengers of the said sector. Further, from the Tambaram end, 20681 Tambaram–Sengottai Silambu Express (via Villupuram - Vriddhachalam - Tiruchchirappalli - Karaikkudi) and 20683 Tambaram–Sengottai Express (via Villupuram - Mayiladuturai - Thiruvarur - Karaikkudi) are together providing services on 6 days of a week on end-to end basis. Similarly, in the return direction i.e. from the Sengottai end, 20682 Sengottai- Tambaram Silambu Express (via Villupuram - Vriddhachalam - Tiruchchirappalli - Karaikkudi) and 20684 Sengottai-Tambaram Express (via Villupuram - Mayiladuturai - Thiruvarur - Karaikkudi) are together providing services on 6 days of a week on end-to end basis, as under: Train no. and Name Days of operation from Tambaram 20681 Tambaram–Sengottai Express Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 20683 Tambaram–Sengottai Express Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays Train no. and Name Days of operation from Sengottai 20682 Sengottai-Tambaram Express Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays 20684 Sengottai-Tambaram Express Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays Besides, increase in frequency of train services, which is an on-going process, depends on various factors which include-  Capacity of that section.  Availability of path.
