GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1189 TO BE ANSWERED ON 27.07.2026 Data on Wildlife Crimes 1189. SHRI ANTO ANTONY: Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to state (a) whether the Government has consolidated national data on all wildlife crimes registered in the country and if not, the reasons therefor; (b) the reasons for continuing to maintain separate wildlife crime databases through the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) and the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) without integration; (c) the total number of wildlife crime cases registered by the Police and the Forest Department separately during the last five years, State/UT-wise and year-wise; (d) the reasons for non-implementation of the recommendation to create a centralized and integrated wildlife crime database; (e) whether the Government intends to make the WCCB's wildlife crime database publicly accessible to ensure transparency; and (f) the number of wildlife crime cases registered by State Forest Departments that are currently not reflected in the NCRB's annual 'Crime in India' report? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE (SHRI KIRTI VARDHAN SINGH) (a) to (f) The Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 provides that the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau collect and collate intelligence related to organized wildlife crime activities and disseminate the same to the State and other enforcement agencies for immediate action so as to apprehend the criminals and to establish a centralized wildlife crime data bank. Details of the organized wildlife crime collated by the Wild Life Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) from the States during last five years is placed as Annexure –I and Annexure –II. ****Annexure-I Annexure referred to in reply to parts (a) to (f) of the Lok Sabha Unstarred Q.
