SHRI BALYA MAMA SURESH GOPINATH MHATRE: Will the Minister of SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT be pleased to state: (a) the number of de-addiction centres in Maharashtra, district-wise along with the number of people rehabilitated; (b) whether the Government has launched any new scheme to create awareness through deaddiction campaign in Maharashtra, district-wise and if so, the details thereof: (c) the steps taken to check the increasing trend of drug addiction among adolescents and youths in Maharashtra and if not, the reasons therefor; and (d) the number of youths de-addicted from drugs along with the efforts being made by the Government to ensure non-recurrence of their falling prey to this addiction in future during the last three years, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT (SHRI B.L.VERMA) (a): A total of 52 de-addiction centres are supported by Department of Social Justice and Empowerment in Maharashtra. During Financial Year 2024-25, number of beneficiaries of these centres is 28,739. In addition to these, 5 Addiction Treatment Facilities (ATFs) are supported by this Department | through National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. During Financial Year 2024-25, number of beneficiaries of these centres is 879. District-wise details of these centres is at Annexure.(b) & (c): NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) was launched on 15th August 2020 by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and is now being implemented in all the districts of the country . i. NMBA intends to reach out to the masses and spread awareness about substance use with focus on higher educational Institutions, university campuses and schools, reaching out and identifying dependent population, focus on counselling and treatment facilities in hospitals and rehabilitation centres and Capacity building programmes for service providers. il. Since its launch, a wide range of activities have been conducted throughout the country that have fostered participation from all quarters of society and stakeholders. There has been a shift from an earlier approach of organisational involvement to community involvement in the issue of substance abuse. The states, districts and other stakeholders have taken ownership of the Abhiyaan that has helped transform the Abhiyaan into a janandolan. iii. Till now, through the various activities undertaken on-ground, 16.49+ crore people have been sensitized on substance use including5.51+ Crore Youth and 3.43+Crore Women. Participation of 4.47+ Lakh educational institutions has ensured that the message of the Abhiyaan reaches children and youth of the country. + lv. In Maharashtra, till now, 4,51,620 people have been sensitized on substance use including 1,89,435 Youth and 99,521 Women. (d): A total of 47,791 beneficiaries including youths have been treated in de-addiction centre in state of Maharashtra during last three years. Counseling services are being provided to the persons suffering from the alcohol and drug addiction and families of the addicts at Integrated Rehabilitation Centres for Addicts (IRCAs) and Districts De-Addiction Centres (DDACs) during the period of treatment.
