be pleased to state:
(a): whether the Government has implemented or is in the process of implementing the
Depot Darpan Portal and mobile appliJation in warehouses across the State of Tamil Nadu
under the initiative for scientific warehousing and smart monitoring offoodgrain depots;
(b): if so, the number and names of warehouses in Tamil Nadu that have been onboarded on
the Depot Darpan platform;
(C): the details of the infrastructural and operational parameters assessed under the system;
(d): whether any warehouses in Tamil Nadu have received composite star ratings based on
these evaluations and if so, the details thereof;
(e): whether the Government proposes to expand Al-enabled technologies like bag
counting, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and Face Recognition Systems (FRS)
in warehouses in Tamil Nadu and across the southern region; and
(f): the details of the measures taken by the Government to ensure supervisory validation
and continuous improvement in warehousing operations and food safety in Tamil Nadu
through the Depot Darpan initiative?

(a) & (b): Yes. The Government has implemented the Depot Darpan portal and its mobile
application for all owned and hired depots across pan India of Food Corporation of India (FCI) and
Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) including those in the state of Tamil Nadu. Details are at
Annexure I.

(c) & (d): The warehouses are assessed based on two main parameters :-
1. Operational Efficiency (60% weightage): Occupancy, Cost metrics like transit/storage loss,
Handling Cost, Demurrage, and Manpower Expenses.
2. Infrastructural Efficiency (40% weightage): including Safety, Operational, Environmental,
and Statutory aspects
Each category is evaluated independently, and the depots receive a 5-Star rating based on the
composite scoring from both parameters.
Assessment and review of FCI and CWC’s (owned and hired) depots has been completed in Tamil
Nadu region and based on this, each depot has received star ratings in depot darpan portal.

(e): Al-enabled technologies like bag counting and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) is
in the process of implementation under the Smart Warehouse project in FCI owned depots. However,
Face recognition system (FRS) is not provisioned in the project.
(f): The depots are being assessed and evaluated half-yearly. Further a trigger alert mechanism is
being maintained wherein triggers are generated for any shortfall during assessments. The same are
being attended by the concerned officers in a time bound manner
