However, Ministry of Tourism under its various schemes such as ‘Swadesh Darshan(SD)’, ‘Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0)’; ‘Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD)’, an initiative under Swadesh Darshan 2.0; and ‘Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD)’ etc. provides financial assistancefor development of tourism infrastructure and experiences in the country to the SGs/UTAs, on receipt of the project proposals from them, in synergy with the scheme guidelines, Government directions, availability of funds, inter-se priority etc. In addition, Government of India in 2024-25 sanctioned the project ‘Development of Bateshwar in District Agra’ for Rs.74.05 Crore and ‘Integrated Buddhist Tourism Development in Shrawasti’ for Rs.80.24 Crore in the State of Uttar Pradesh under the scheme ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) – Development of Iconic Tourist Centres to Global Scale’. A range of components which may enhance tourism facilitation at the destinations are considered for sanctioning, as per project requirement, under schemes of the Ministry of Tourism, including those related to tourism core products, tourism activities, safety, sanitation, connectivity, parking, general site development, soft interventions etc. Further, Ministry of Tourism holistically promotes various tourism destinations and products of the country including those in Uttar Pradesh through various promotional tools such as website, events, social media etc. The Ministry also encourages State Governments/UT Administrations to engage with local communities and ensure robust O&M of completed projects so as to increase footfall, generate local employment and enhance overall tourist satisfaction.
