ANSWER
Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol)
(a) to (c): The Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) - UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam
Nagrik) was launched on 21.10.2016 to enhance regional air connectivity from
unserved and underserved airports in the country and making air travel affordable
to the masses. Under the UDAN scheme, 95 airports, including 17 heliports and 2
water aerodromes have been developed and operationalised across the country.
The State-wise details of airports developed/operationalised under the scheme
along with the expenditure incurred, are placed at Annexure. Maintenance and
upkeep of airports was not part of the scheme.
(d) & (e): As on 10.07.2026, a total of 679 routes have been operationalised,
carrying over 168 lakhs domestic passengers on more than 3.58 lakh RCS flights
under the Regional Connectivity Scheme - Ude Desh ka Aa Nagrik (RCS-UDAN)
