DEVELOPMENT OF COASTAL TOURISM IN AMALAPURAM
3513. SHRI G M HARISH BALAYOGI:
Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state:
(a) the details of Initiatives undertaken to promote and develop coastal
tourism in Amalapuram Lok Sabha Constituency;
(b) the details of coastal tourism projects sanctioned, completed and
ongoing during the last three years in the said Constituency;
(c) the details of funds allocated, sanctioned, released and utilised for
coastal tourism projects during the said period, year and project-wise;
(d) nature of infrastructure created or upgraded under such initiatives,
including beach development, eco-tourism facilities, cruise and boat
tourism, connectivity and visitor amenities in the said Constituency;
(e) the details of capacity-building and skill development programmes
undertaken to support local communities, including youth, fishermen,
women self-help groups and other stakeholders, for participation in
coastal tourism activities in the said Constituency; and
(f) whether any new proposals for coastal tourism development are under
consideration in the said Constituency and if so, the details thereof?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT)
(a) to (f): Development and promotion of tourist destination and tourism
products including coastal tourism is primarily done by the concerned State
Government (SG)/UT Administration (UTA). However, Ministry of Tourism under
its various schemes such as Swadesh Darshan (SD), Swadesh Darshan 2.0
(SD2.0), Challenge Based Destination Development- CBDD- a sub scheme of
SD2.0 and Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive
(PRASHAD) etc. provides financial assistance for development of tourisminfrastructure and experiences to the SGs/UTAs; on receipt of the project
proposals from them, in synergy with the scheme guidelines, Government
directions, availability of funds, inter-se priority etc.
In addition, Government of India under its initiative for ‘Special
Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) – Development of Iconic
Tourist Centres to Global Scale’ scheme, has also provided financial
assistance in the year 2024-25 to the States for development of tourism
projects.
Various schemes, programs, and initiatives of the Ministry have been
actively addressing issues related to the tourism promotion and development,
including coastal tourism.
Sanctioning of new project under the above-mentioned schemes is a
continuous process.
The details of projects sanctioned by the Ministry under SD, SD2.0, CBDD,
PRASHAD and SASCI schemes in the county including coastal tourism projects
are annexed.
This project sanctioned under the above mentioned schemes covers
various components as per project design and requirement.
The Ministry encourages State Governments/ UT Administrations to
engage with local communities including youth and women and ensure robust
operation & management (O&M) of completed projects so as to increase
footfall, generate local employment and enhance overall tourist satisfaction
along with skill development.
Further, the Ministry of Tourism conducts hospitality and tourism related
short-term training certificate courses for skilling, up- skilling and re-skilling
under its “Capacity Building for Service Providers (CBSP)” scheme through
Government institutes and empanelled private institutes including Indian
Institute of Hotel Management, Food Craft Institutes, Indian Culinary Institute,
etc. In the State of Andhra Pradesh, a total of 411 candidates have been
trained/certified from FY 2023-24 to FY 2025-26 under CBSP.
