Parliament Question: Development of Dadhichi Kund and Naimisharanya-Misrikh Sites

SHRI ASHOK KUMAR RAWAT: Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state: (a) whether any survey has been conducted by the Union and the State Governments to develop the penance site of Maharshi Dadhichi (Dadhichi Kund) and the Naimisharanya-Misrikh pilgrimage site into a major international religious tourism hub; (b) if so, the details thereof along with the budget released for this purpose so far; and (c) whether the Government has any plan to develop such pilgrimage site at the national level? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) to (c): The development and promotion of tourist destinations and tourism products, is primarily undertaken by the respective State Governments and Union Territory (UT) Administrations. However, the Ministry of Tourism, under its various schemes such as Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD), Swadesh Darshan (SD), Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0), Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD) supplements the efforts of the States/UTs by providing financial assistance for the development of tourism related infrastructure and experiences across the country, including in the State of Uttar Pradesh.
