Parliament Question: Development of Dry Ports

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3578 ANSWERED ON 13.03.2026 DEVELOPMENT OF DRY PORTS 3578. SHRI KESINENI SIVANATH: Will the Minister of PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS be pleased to state: प(cid:7275)न, पोत प(cid:7407)रवहन और जलमाग (cid:6981) म(cid:7074)ं ी (a) the total number of dry ports that have been proposed for development; (b) the details of these dry ports along with their financial and physical progress; (c) whether there are any pending proposals for building new dry ports with the Government, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and (d) whether there is set criteria for establishing dry ports, if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER MINISTER OF PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS (SHRI SARBANANDA SONOWAL) (a) to (c) The proposals for development of Dry Ports are sent by Public or Private Entities for consideration of CBIC, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance. CBIC has reported that the following three proposals has been received by them for development of Dry Ports which are at application stage: i. Shivlakha, District Kutch, Gujarat ii. Badhal ( Junsiya-Itawa), Kishangarh-Renwal, Jaipur, Rajasthan iii. Navlakh Umbre, Pune, Maharashtra (d) Yes, the criteria for establishing of Inland Container Depots/Dry Port has been provided in Circular No. 50/2020 - Customs dated 05.11.2020 issued by the CBIC, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance (Annexure).
