GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.6385 ANSWERED ON 02ND APRIL, 2026 DEVELOPMENT OF FOOD PROCESSING SECTOR IN HIMACHAL PRADESH 6385. DR. RAJEEV BHARADWAJ: Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state: (a) the amount of funds allocated to Himachal Pradesh for developing the food processing sector during the last three years; (b) whether agro-processing clusters have been set up in Kangra and Chamba districts and if so, the details thereof; and (c) whether incubation centres for micro food processing products have been set up in Himachal Pradesh and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES (SHRI RAVNEET SINGH) (a) : In order to promote and facilitate overall development of the food processing sector, Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has been incentivizing setting up/expansion of related infrastructure through its two Central Sector schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) Scheme, Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI) and a Centrally Sponsored scheme – Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) across the country including Himachal Pradesh. No state-wise budget allocation is done under PMKSY & PLISFPI. However, as on 31.12.2025, MoFPI has approved 37 food processing projects with approved grants in aid of Rs 271.39 crores under PMKSY and 4 projects at different locations with committed investment of Rs 10.66 crore under PLISFPI, in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Under PMFME, as on 31.12.2025, 2628 micro food enterprises with approved subsidy of Rs 63.57 crores have been sanctioned in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Central funds released by MoFPI to Himachal Pradesh under PMFME scheme since 2022-23 are as under: Financial Year FY 2022-23 FY 2023-24 FY 2024-25 Amount (Rs. In 13.74 57.11 4.00 crore) (b): MoFPI does not establish food processing units on its own. However, it provides financial assistance to eligible entrepreneurs for establishing food processing industry through its three schemes as per related scheme guidelines across the country including in Kangra and Chamba districts of Himachal Pradesh.
