ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI JITIN PRASADA) The Government of India has launched several initiatives and programs to support the expansion of the IT sector and is constantly working to promote the sector throughout the country. The Software Technology Park (STP) is one such important scheme in this effort.
Under this scheme, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has established 73 centres across the country including 2 centres in Punjab at Amritsar and Mohali. It aims to support tech start-ups in key domains such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Data Analytics (DA), Internet of Things (IoT), and AVG (Audio, Visual & Gaming). The CoE offers support across various aspects of the startup ecosystem, including incubation, mentorship, lab infrastructure, go-to-market strategy, market access, funding etc.
The CoE has supported 142 start-ups, resulting in the development of 171 prototypes and 158 products. The project has ended in February 2026, however the CoE is in a sustainable phase. *******
