Parliament Question: Development of Parandur Airport

SHRI MATHESWARAN V S Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:- (a) whether it is a fact that the proposed Parandur Airport project in Tamil Nadu has been put on hold and if so, the details thereof; and (b) the details and the area of land acquired by the State-owned Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) for the proposed Parandur Airport project? ANSWER Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (Shri Murlidhar Mohol) (a) & (b): Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has granted 'In-Principle' approval to Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDCO), a Government of Tamil Nadu Enterprise for development of an International Greenfield Airport at Parandur on 07.04.2025. As per the Greenfield Airports Policy, 2008, the responsibility for implementation of the Greenfield airport projects including land acquisition, Rehabilitation & Resettlement, funding, obtaining environment clearances etc. lies with the airport developer concerned or the State Government, as the case may be. ******
