GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF TOURISM LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.†4873 ANSWERED ON 23.03.2026 DEVELOPMENT OF RELIGIOUS CIRCUITS IN RAJASTHAN †4873. SHRI AMRA RAM: Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government proposes to develop a religious circuit comprising Khatu Shyam Ji, Jeen Mata Ji, Lohagal, Shakambhari, Salasar, Ramdevra, Mukam and Karni Mata and if so, the time by which such religious circuits are likely to be developed and if not, the reasons therefor; and (b) whether any plan to develop the said religious circuits is under consideration of the Government? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) to (b): The development and promotion of tourist destinations and tourism products, is primarily undertaken by the respective State Government/ Union Territory (UT) Administration. The Ministry of Tourism, through its ongoing Central Sector Schemes of ‘Swadesh Darshan (SD)’, ‘Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD 2.0)’, ‘Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD)’ a sub-scheme of Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, ‘Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD)’ supplements the efforts of the States/UTs by providing financial assistance for the development of tourism related infrastructure in consultation with them. The Ministry of Tourism under the aforementioned schemes have sanctioned multiple projects in the State of Rajasthan including religious sites. The details of projects sanctioned under the aforementioned schemes is annexed.In addition, Government of India in year 2024-25 under Special assistance to States for capital investment scheme (SASCI) has sanctioned two project in the State of Rajasthan. The details of which is as under: Name of Project Sanction Amount Sanctioned Year (₹ in Crore) Development at Amber-Nahargarh November 49.31 and Surrounding Area 2024 Development at Jal Mahal November 96.61 2024 Receiving proposals from the State Governments/UT Administrations for financial assistance for tourism projects is a continuous process. The proposals received are examined with reference to the prescribed guidelines and financial assistance is extended for such projects subject to fulfilment of the stipulated conditions and availability of funds. The implementation of the projects under these schemes is the responsibility of the respective State/UT Administration.
