DEVELOPMENT OF SRIGANGANAGAR-HANUMANGARH
AS TOURIST DESTINATIONS
†2561. SHRI KULDEEP INDORA:
Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is planning to develop Sriganganagar and
Hanumangarh region as a major tourist destination keeping in view
its unique historical, cultural, geographical and agro-based tourism
potential;
(b) whether the Government proposes to assess the possibility of
developing this area as a farm and agro-tourism hub and if so, the
details thereof;
(c) whether the Government is planning special budget, infrastructure
and publicity schemes for such development; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT)
(a) to (d): Development and promotion of tourism including destination
assessment is primarily done by the concerned State Government (SG)/UT
Administration (UTA). However, Ministry of Tourism under its various
schemes such as Swadesh Darshan (SD), Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0),
Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive
(PRASHAD) etc. provides financial assistance for development of tourism
infrastructure and experiences in the country including those related to
historical, cultural and other tourism thematic aspects, to the SGs/UTAs on
receipt of the project proposals from them, in synergy with the scheme
guidelines, Government directions, availability of funds, inter-se priority etc.
The details of the projects sanctioned under Swadesh Darshan, SD2.0 and
PRASHAD schemes in the state of Rajasthan is annexed.Government of India in 2024-25 sanctioned the projects ‘Development
of Amber-Nahargarh and surrounding Area in Jaipur’ for Rs.49.31 Crore and
‘Development of Jal Mahal in Jaipur’ for Rs.96.61 Crore in the State of
Rajasthan under its initiative for ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital
Investment (SASCI)-Development of Iconic Tourist Centres to Global Scale’.
In addition, the Ministry of Tourism holistically promotes various
tourism destinations and products of the country including those in
Rajasthan through various promotional tools such as website, events, social
media etc.
