ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS
(SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI)(a) to (b) No proposal for conversion and development of the PWD road
Section-1 of SH-4, passing through Nalanda, Jehanabad and Gaya
districts as a National Highway has been received from the State
Government.
(c) to (d) No proposal for declaration of the PWD road section-2 of SH-4
& SH-71 from Islampur to Rajgir as a National Highway is under
consideration. The Government keeps on receiving proposals from
various State Governments / Union Territories (UTs) including the
proposals from the State Government of Bihar for declaration /

considers declaration of State roads as National Highways from time
to time based on the fulfilment of the criteria for declaration of NHs,
requirement of connectivity, traffic density and synergy with PM Gati
Shakti National Master Plan.
