Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to
state:
(a) the details of the funds allocated and utilised for the development of the Kalaburagi
Zoo in Karnataka since the inception of the project, year-wise;
(b) whether other allied development works were carried out to facilitate increased
tourism
activities and if so, details thereof;
(c) the details of the status of infrastructure development at the said zoo, including animal
enclosures, veterinary facilities etc.; and
(d) whether any collaboration exists with the State Government or other authorities to
support
the development of the zoo?

(a) to (d) As informed by the Central Zoo Authority, prior approval for establishment of
New Zoological Park, Madbool in Kalaburagi district, Karnataka has been
accorded under section 38-H(1-A) of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 in year
2021.
As per Recognition of Zoo Rules, 2009, it is the responsibility of the Zoo Operator
of State owned zoos to ensure that financial resources and infrastructure are
available for the management of zoos. As informed by the Chief Wild Life Warden,
Karnataka, funds allocated and utilised for the development of Kalaburagi Zoo,
Karnataka during last two financial years is placed as Annexure.
Further, as informed, Lumbini Udyanvana, Gungurthi is developed at distance of
3 km from the zoo, and a MoU has been signed with the Infosys (The Murty
Foundation) on 17.03.2023, for development of infrastructure activities like GSLR
sump, entrance gate, store and kitchen, veterinary hospital etc.
