Parliament Question: Development of Tourism Corridors in Telangana

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF TOURISM LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.2527 ANSWERED ON 03.08.2026 DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM CORRIDORS IN TELANGANA

2527. SHRI MADHAVANENI RAGHUNANDAN RAO:

Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has any proposal to develop tourism corridors in the State of Telangana by connecting ancient temples, heritage monuments and other historical sites and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the details of such tourism corridor projects proposed, sanctioned or under implementation in Telangana, along with their present status;

(c) whether Government has received any proposals from the State Government of Telangana for the development of such tourism corridors or heritage tourism projects and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the details of financial assistance sanctioned or proposed by the Government for the development of heritage tourism infrastructure in Telangana during the last five years? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT)

(a) to (d): Identification, Development and Promotion of tourist destinations and tourism products including tourism corridors is primarily undertaken by the concerned State Governments (SG)/Union Territory Administrations (UTA).

However, the Ministry of Tourism through its schemes of ‘Swadesh Darshan

(SD)’, ‘Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0)’, ‘Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD)’ – a sub-scheme of SD2.0, and ‘Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD)’ complements the efforts of tourism infrastructure development by extending financial assistance to the State Governments /UT Administrations.In addition, Government of India under its initiative for ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) – Development of Iconic Tourist Centres to Global Scale’ scheme, has also provided financial assistance to the States including Telangana in the year 2024-25 for development of tourism projects.

Receiving/ submission of proposal/ Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) from the SGs/UTAs is a continuous process and projects are sanctioned subject to adherence to scheme guidelines, availability of funds, Government directions, inter-se priority etc.

The details of the projects sanctioned under SD, SD2.0, CBDD, SASCI and PRASHAD schemes in the State of Telangana, along with funds sanctioned, released/authorized and their present implementation status are annexed.
