ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT)
(a) to (b): Development and promotion of tourist destinations and tourism
products, including Eco-tourism destination is primarily undertaken by the
concerned State Government (SG) /Union Territory Administration (UTA).
However, the Ministry through its existing schemes of ‘Swadesh Darshan (SD)’,
‘Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0)’, ‘Challenge Based Destination Development
(CBDD)’ – a sub-scheme of SD2.0, and ‘Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual,
Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD)’ complements the efforts of tourism
infrastructure development by extending financial assistance to the State
Governments/UT Administrations including Jammu & Kashmir; subject to
adherence to scheme guidelines, submission of Detailed Project Reports
(DPRs) by them, availability of funds, Government directions, inter-se priority
etc.
The Ministry of Tourism has revamped the Swadesh Darshan scheme as
Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0) with the objective to develop sustainable and
responsible tourism destinations in the country, following a destination and
tourist centric approach.Sanctioning of new project under the above-mentioned schemes is a
continuous process.
At present, no proposal for development of tourism infrastructure in
Baramulla, Kupwara, Budgam and Bandipora districts of UT of Jammu &
Kashmir is under consideration in the Ministry of Tourism.
The details of the projects sanctioned under SD and PRASHAD schemes
in the UT of J&K are annexed.
