GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF TOURISM LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.†2746 ANSWERED ON 09.03.2026 DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM IN WEST SINGHBHUM, JHARKHAND †2746. SMT. JOBA MAJHI: Will the Minister of TOURISM be pleased to state: (a) whether the West Singhbhum district is a very rich district of Jharkhand from the point of view of natural beauty but it has not been given prominence on the tourist map of the country; and (b) whether the Government proposes to include the West Singhbhum in the major tourist circuits of the country, if so, the timeline set thereof and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) to (b): Ministry of Tourism recognizes importance of various tourism destinations and products of the country including those in Jharkhand. Development and promotion of tourism destinations is primarily done by the concerned State Government (SG)/UT Administration (UTA). However, Ministry of Tourism under its various schemes such as Swadesh Darshan & Swadesh Darshan 2.0, Challenge Based Destination Development (CBDD) (an initiative under Swadesh Darshan scheme), Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) etc. provides financial assistance for development of tourism infrastructure and experiences in the country to the SGs/UTAs, as part of an ongoing process, on receipt of the project proposals from them in synergy with the scheme guidelines, Government directions, availability of funds, inter-se priority etc. The details of the projects sanctioned under Swadesh Darshan, SD2.0 and PRASHAD schemes in the state of Jharkhand is annexed.Government of India in 2024-25 sanctioned the project ‘Eco-Tourism Development of Tilaiyya’ in Koderma’ in Jharkhand for Rs.34.87 Crore under its initiative for ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI)- Development of Iconic Tourist Centres to Global Scale’. *****ANNEXURE STATEMENT IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (b) OF LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.†2746 ANSWERED ON 09.03.2026 REGARDING DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM IN WEST SINGHBHUM, JHARKHAND RAISED BY SMT.
