(a) the number of under-developed trans-shipment ports identified in the country;
(b) the number of projects approved or under implementation to reduce dependence on foreign trans-shipment hubs;
(c) whether the Government has data on changes in coastal shipping volumes and cost efficiencies achieved following policy support for coastal and short-sea shipping; and

(c) & (d) Yes, Sir. The coastal shipping volume at Indian ports has shown an increase over the past few years, rising from 228 million metric tons (MMT) in 2020-21 to 336 MMT in 2024-25, reflecting growing maritime trade and the increasing importance of coastal shipping in India’s logistics and transport sector.
