4078. Shri Amarsing Tisso:

Will the Minister of DEVELOPMENT OF NORTH EASTERN REGION be pleased to state:

(a) the details of projects sanctioned, completed and under implementation in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts of Assam by the Government during the last five years, scheme-wise;

(b) the amount of funds sanctioned, released and utilised for these projects during the said period;

(c) whether the Government has received any proposal from the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council seeking additional Central assistance of Rs. 1,000 crore for continuation and completion of ongoing developmental projects in Karbi Anglong under the Memorandum of Settlement in Karbi Anglong;

(d) if so, the present status thereof including the stage of examination; and

(e) whether any decision has been taken thereon and if so, the details thereof along with the expected timeline for its disposal? ANSWER The Minister of State of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region [Dr. Sukanta Majumdar]

(c) to (e) Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has informed that it received a proposal dated

22.01.2026 from the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Territorial Council (KAATC) seeking sanction of ₹1,000 crore for continuation of ongoing developmental projects in the Karbi Anglong district. The proposal was forwarded to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) on 03.03.2026 for consideration. Subsequently, MDoNER, vide its letter dated 23.03.2026, informed MHA that it is presently implementing only the projects under the Special Development Packages (SDPs) for KAATC envisaged in the Memoranda of Settlement signed with the Karbi Groups in 2011 and 2021.
