Parliament Question: Development Works at Tehri Lake Area Project

MALA RAJYA LAXMI SHAH: SHRI CHANDAN CHAUHAN: SHRI TRIVENDRA SINGH RAWAT: SHRI MUKESHKUMAR CHANDRAKAANT DALAL: Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state: (a) the details of the infrastructure and development works being undertaken under the $126.4 million Sustainable, Inclusive, and Climate-Resilient Tourism Development at Tehri Lake Area Project in Uttarakhand; (b) the number of residents and tourists likely to benefit from the said project; (c) the major initiatives implemented for institutional strengthening, disaster preparedness and adoption of nature-based solutions to mitigate landslide and flood risks; and (d) the steps being taken by the Government under the said project to ensure inclusivity and community participation and to support women-led disaster management initiatives? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE (SHRI PANKAJ CHAUDHARY) (a) to (d) The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed a Loan Agreement for USD 126.4 million on 10.09.2025 for the Sustainable, Inclusive and Climate Resilient Tourism Development at Tehri Lake Project. The project aims to support the development of tourism linked with livelihoods, environmental protection, and climate resilience in the Tehri Lake area of Tehri Garhwal district in the State of Uttarakhand. This is a state sector project of the Government of Uttarakhand, and the loan agreement was signed by the Government of India with ADB at the request of the State Government. The custodian of project details is the State Government, and the detailed project information is not centrally maintained by the Government of India. ******
