SHRI ANIL KUMAR YADAV MANDADI: Will the Minister of YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS be pleased to state: (a) whether Government has allocated any fund under any of its programme for various developmental activities including appointment of coaches for various disciplines at Regional Sports School, Karimanagar, Telangana; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) whether Government has identified the Sports Complex situated there to develop it as a Centre of Excellence at par with Sports Authority of India (SAI); (d) if so, the details thereof; and (e) if not, the reasons therefor? (a) to (b) Under the Khelo India Scheme, a total of 1,067 Khelo India Centres (KICs) have been notified across the country, broadly in accordance with the norm of one KIC per district in most States/UTs. In respect of Karimnagar district in the State of Telangana, one (01) Khelo India Centre has been notified at the Government Regional Sports School, Karimnagar. An amount of Rs. 4.87 crore has been released towards 33 Khelo India Centres in the State of Telangana, which includes Rs. 15,38,401/- for the Khelo India Centre at the Regional Sports School, Karimnagar. (c) to (e): As part of the Khelo India Scheme, Khelo India State Centre of Excellences (KISCEs) are set up across the country, as per the norm of one KISCE per State/UT. In alignment with that, one KISCE has been notified in Telangana at Regional Sports School, Hakimpet in three disciplines viz. rowing, fencing, and weightlifting. ***** Page 2 of 2
