SHRI BALYA MAMA SURESH GOPINATH MHATRE: Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state: (a) the number of students completed internships under the Digital India Internship Scheme since its inception in Maharashtra; (b) the details of the Universities/Colleges where these students are studying as well as their courses/programmes, year and district-wise; (c) whether the Government is considering or any proposal is under consideration to increase access and participation of students from rural and remote areas including Maharashtra by expanding the Digital India Internship Scheme to other cities in the country besides New Delhi; (d) if so, the details of such expansion and the probable timeline for its implementation, location-wise; and (e) the steps taken by the Government to increase participation of students from rural and deprived districts of Maharashtra in this scheme? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI JITIN PRASADA) (a) to (e): Government has launched the Digital India programme with the vision of transforming India into a digitally empowered society and a knowledge-based economy, by ensuring digital access, digital inclusion, digital empowerment and bridging the digital divide. The Digital India Internship Scheme provides students with practical experience in various pillars of Digital India initiative and helps them in enhancing their skills and employability. The interns work on policy and implementation issues and contribute to driving digital transformation in the country. The Digital India Internship Scheme is a pan-India initiative, and students from any part of India, including rural, remote and aspirational districts, are eligible to apply and participate.The details of the universities/colleges and the courses/ programmes that were pursued Sl.
