Parliament Question: Dilapidated Condition of Nashik-Pune Highway

Shri Rajabhau Parag Prakash Waje: Will the MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS सड़क परिवहन औि िाजमार्ग मंत्री be pleased to state: (a) the specific actions taken to address the severe traffic congestion, rising number of accidents and the poor condition of the Pune–Nashik Highway, particularly the stretch passing through the Chakan and Khed industrial areas, which is a vital economic corridor connecting Nashik district; (b) the details of any proposed infrastructure projects such as dedicated bypasses, flyovers or elevated corridors planned for this highway stretch; (c) the timeline for commencement and completion of the said projects; and (d) whether the Government is considering any special financial package for the development and upgradation of roads and highways in the industrial belts connected to Nashik district in Maharashtra to support economic growth and ensure commuter safety and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI) (a) to (d) The development and maintenance of National Highways (NHs) is a continuous process. To address the present traffic congestion on four-lane Pune-Nashik section of NH-60, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has undertaken various junction improvement works under the Annual Maintenance Programme(AMP) for FY 2024–25 and FY 2025–26. These works are currently in progress and are expected to significantly mitigate traffic congestion at critical junctions, particularly in the Chakan and Khed industrial areas. As a long term solution to cater to the heavy traffic and ensure smooth connectivity in the Pune-Nashik section of NH-60 passing through the Chakan and Khed industrial areas, the Government has sanctioned the project for construction of an eight-lane elevated corridor at an estimated cost of Rs. 7801 Crores. The civil construction works are targeted for completion in Financial Year 2030-31. *****
