Parliament Question: Dilapidated condition of Railway Stations under Shahjahanpur Lok Sabha Constituency, Uttar Pradesh

SHRI ARUN KUMAR SAGAR: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government has taken or proposes to take steps for the renovation, beautification and provision of drinking water and water coolers at the platforms of Katra Railway Station and Tilhar Railway Station which are in a dilapidated condition under the Shahjahanpur Lok Sabha Constituency of Uttar Pradesh and if so, the details thereof; (b) whether the Government has received any requests from public representatives in this regard and if so, the details thereof; and (c) the details of the progress made so far in this regard? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (c) At Miranpur Katra station of Shahjahanpur Lok Sabha Constituency, located in Uttar Pradesh, facilities like platform shelter, waiting hall, drinking water arrangement, urinal, lavatory, seating arrangement, foot over bridge etc. are available. The works of improvement of platform, new station building and 3 m wide foot over bridge have been recently completed. The work for amenities for Divyangjan has been taken up. At Tilhar station of Shahjahanpur Lok Sabha Constituency, located in Uttar Pradesh, facilities like platform shelter, waiting hall, drinking water § Page 1 of 8arrangement, urinal, lavatory, seating arrangement, foot over bridge etc. are available. The work for amenities for Divyangjan has been taken up. Shahjahanpur station of Shahjahanpur Lok Sabha Constituency, located in Uttar Pradesh, has been identified for development under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. At Shahjahanpur station, the works of improvement of platform surface at platform no. 1 & 2/3, platform shelter and improvement of station building at main entry have been completed. The finishing work of second entry station building, improvement of circulating area and foot over bridge have been taken up. Ministry of Railways has launched Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for redevelopment of stations with a long-term approach. This scheme involves preparation of master plans and their implementation in phases to improve the stations of Indian Railways. The master planning, keeping in view the necessity of each station, includes: ● Improvement of access to station and circulating areas ● Integration of station with both sides of city ● Improvement of station building ● Improvement of waiting halls, toilets, sitting arrangement, water booths ● Provision of wider foot over bridge/subway to commensurate with passenger traffic ● Provision of lifts/escalators/ramps ● Improvement of platform surface/ provision of platform shelter Page 2 of 8● Provision of kiosks for local products through schemes like ‘One Station One Product’ ● Parking development ● Amenities for Divyangjans ● Better passenger information systems ● Provision of air concourse, executive lounges, Multimodal integration, landscaping, etc. The scheme also envisages sustainable and environment friendly solutions etc. as per necessity, phasing and feasibility and creation of city centre at the station in the long term. So far, 1,340 stations have been identified for development under this scheme, out of which 157 stations, including Shahjahanpur station of Shahjahanpur Lok Sabha Constituency, are located in Uttar Pradesh. The work of 12 m wide foot over bridge has been taken up.  Kanpur Central station: The structural works of new station building, commercial building, electrical substation at city side and Cantonment side have been completed. The finishing works of new station building, commercial building, electrical substation at city and Cantonment side, structural work of air concourse, new platform shelters, improvement of platform surface and underground parking have been taken up.  Lucknow (Charbagh) NR station: The structural work of new station building at second entry has been completed. The finishing work of new station building, concourse, 10 m wide foot over bridge, development of circulating area at second entry and improvement of circulating area at main entry have been taken up.  Nagina station: The works of new station building, improvement of platform surface, new platform shelter, improvement of circulating Page 6 of 8area, parking and new 12 m wide foot over bridge have been completed. The work of installation of lift has been taken up.  Prayagraj Junction station: The structural work of station building at Civil lines side, Railway Mail Service building, parcel building, two arrival blocks, 2 electric substations and improvement of surface parking have been completed. The finishing works of station building, Railway Mail Service building, parcel building and electrical substation, basement parking at city side, air concourse and new platform shelter have been taken up. Further, development / redevelopment / upgradation / modernisation of stations on Indian Railways including provision of passenger amenities like improvement of station building, drinking water arrangement, water coolers at platforms etc., is a continuous and ongoing process and works in this regard are undertaken as per requirement, subject to inter-se priority and availability of funds. Development / redevelopment / upgradation / modernisation of a station is carried out based on category of station/condition/traffic handled etc. Suggestions / Representations, both formal and informal for Railway projects / works across the country are received on the basis of demands raised by State Governments, Members of Parliament, Ministries of Central Government, elected representatives, Railways' own requirements, organizations / rail users etc., at various levels including Railway Board, Zonal Railways, Division Office etc. Receipt of such suggestions / representations is a continuous and dynamic process and these are examined and action as found feasible and justified is taken from time to time. Page 7 of 8Development / Upgradation / Modernisation of stations including under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is generally funded under Plan Head-53 ‘Customer Amenities’. The details of allocation and expenditure under Plan Head-53 are maintained Zonal Railway-wise and not station-wise or state- wise. Uttar Pradesh is covered under the jurisdiction of five railway zones, namely, East Central Railway, North Central Railway, Northern Railway, North Eastern Railway, and West Central Railway. For these zones, an allocation of ₹ 4,118 crore has been made for the financial year 2026-27, out of which an expenditure (up to June, 2026) of ₹ 1,256 crore has been incurred so far. ***** Page 8 of 8
