Government of India Ministry of Finance Department of Revenue RAJYA SABHA UN-STARRED QUESTION NO. 1232 ANSWERED ON- 10/02/2026 Dry Port 1232 # SHRI MADAN RATHORE : Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state: (a) whether it is a fact that dry ports are beneficial for freight transportation; (b) if so, the locations in the country where dry ports have been established and are operational; (c) whether there is a possibility of establishing dry port in Sanchore district of Rajasthan; and (d) if so, the view of Government in this regard? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE (SHRI PANKAJ CHAUDHARY) (a) An Inland Container Depot (commonly known as Dry port) is beneficial for customs clearance of cargo at locations away from ports. (b) The locations where dry ports have been notified are provided in Annexure-A; (c) Presently, no proposal for establishment of an Inland Container Depot in Sanchore district of Rajasthan has been received from private logistic operators or by State or Central government undertakings. (d) Applications for setting up of Inland Container Depots are considered by an Inter-Ministerial Committee. Once the proposal is approved, the applicant is required to operationalise the facility within one year from the date of issue of Letter of Intent of approval. ********Annexure-A S.
