Effectiveness of CAQM
1501. SHRI SAMIRUL ISLAM:
Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to
state:
(a) the responsibilities of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM);
(b) the number of research on pollution conducted by the commission since 2021 along
with the funds allocated; and
(c) the year-wise pollution levels in NCT since the inception of the Commission?

(a) The responsibilities of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) is
prescribed in Chapter III, Section 12 of The Commission for Air Quality Management in
National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas Act, 2021, under the heading Powers and
functions of Commission.
(b) CAQM has sanctioned seven research and development projects with an allocation of
Rs.2.58 crore for field demonstration and evaluation of various technology interventions.
(c) Year-wise annual average values of Air Quality Index (AQI), Particulate Matter10
(PM ) and Particulate Matter2.5 (PM ) levels in Delhi for last 5 years, since the inception of
