EMPLOYMENT THROUGH UPGIS
2487. SHRI ASHOK KUMAR RAWAT:
Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the details of amount invested so far out of the Memorandum of
Understandings (MOUs) signed during the UP Global Investors
Summit (UPGIS);
(b) whether the local youth got employment from the said
investment; and
(c) if so, the number of youth got employment till now and the
number of youth targeted to be given employment in the coming
time?

(a) to (c): As per information received from Government of Uttar
Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit (UPGIS)
attracted 19,250 MoUs with proposed investments worth over
₹33.50 lakh crore.Uttar Pradesh has also institutionalised investment implementation
through a series of Ground Breaking Ceremonies (GBCs), ensuring
that investment commitments translate into projects on the ground.

The employment figures reported in the MoUs signed and projects
grounded are indicative in nature and based on the preliminary
estimates provided by the respective investors. However, according to
data under the Factories Act, the number of registered factories in
Uttar Pradesh increased from 15,010 in FY 2017-18 to 32,035 in FY
2025-26, while the number of workers employed rose from 21,93,239 in
FY 2017-18 to 37,35,581 in FY2025-26. This represents a growth of
approximately 74.88% in employment over the period.
