ENHANCEMENT OF RAILWAY SERVICES FOR DEVOTEES TRAVELLING TO KHATU

Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) whether Government is aware of the increasing demand for rail connectivity to Khatu Shyam Ji
from Delhi and nearby areas, if so, the steps taken;
(b) whether there is any proposal to introduce a direct express train via Rewari-Narnaul- Sikar and to
extend existing services like Delhi-Rewari DEMU (74001/74004) and Haridwar-Rewari Express
(19617/19620) to Sikar, if so, the status thereof;
(c) whether frequency of Lucknow-Khatu Shyam Ji Express (05097/05098) will be increased and key
trains like Bikaner Intercity Express (22463/22464) rerouted via Rewari- Narnaul-Sikar, if so, the
timeline thereof; and
(d) current status and expected timeline of the Delhi-Alwar-Reengas-Fatehpur Shekhawati railway line,
sanctioned in 2013?

(a) to (d) Ringas, which serves as the rail head for Khatu Shyam Ji temple, is presently connected to
Delhi by 09 pairs of Mail/Express train services (listed below) including 08 pairs of train services are
operational via Rewari - Narnaul.

§Connectivity of Sikar to Delhi and Rewari:
Presently, Sikar is directly connected to Delhi via Rewari - Loharu by 02 pairs of Express train services
as under:-

Delhi Cantonment - Jaipur Sainik Express connect Rewari to Ringas via Loharu.
Ringas is also well connected to Sikar by 12 pairs of regular train services. Presently, 03 pairs of train
services connect Bikaner to Ringas via Sikar. These are listed below:

05097/05098 Tanakpur - Daurai Special (Tri-weekly) has been regularised and now operational as
15091/15092 Tanakpur - Daurai Express with increased frequency of 4 days a week.
Besides, introduction of new train services, extension/increase in frequency/Change in route of existing
services on any route/section, are on-going processes on Indian Railways and depends on various
factors which include:
● Capacity of that section
● Availability of path
● Availability of required rolling stock
● Availability of matching infrastructure for rolling stock
● Maintenance requirement of railway tracks and other asset
Delhi-Alwar-Ringas-Fatehpur Shekhawati Railway line:
Delhi-Alwar-Bandikui-Jaipur-Ringus-Sikar-Fatehpur Shekhawati is existing broad gauge network
having double line in Delhi-Alwar-Bandikui-Jaipur section and single line in Jaipur-Ringus-Sikar-
Fatehpur Shekhawati section.
To further augment the capacity of this section, final location survey of Ringus-Sikar doubling (50 Km)
has been sanctioned and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared.
After preparation of DPR, sanctioning of project requires consultation with various stake-holders
including State Governments and necessary approvals viz. appraisal of NITI Aayog, Ministry of
Finance etc. As sanctioning of projects is a continuous and dynamic process, exact timelines cannot be
fixed.
Budget allocation in the recent years has increased significantly. Budget allocation for infrastructure
projects and safety works, falling fully/partly in the State of Rajasthan is as under:-

The details of commissioning/laying of new track falling fully/partly in the State of Rajasthan during
2009-14 and 2014-25 is as under:-

As on 01.04.2025, 28 Railway projects (13 New Lines, 05 Gauge Conversion and 10 Doubling), of
total length of 3,409 Km costing ₹43,918 crore falling fully/partly in the State of Rajasthan have been
sanctioned, out of which 1,238 Km length has been commissioned and an expenditure of ₹18,954 crore
has been incurred upto March 2025. The status of work is summarized as under:-

Zonal Railway wise details of Railway Projects are made available in public domain on Indian
Railways website.
Sanction of any railway project depends upon many parameters/factors which include the following:
● Anticipated traffic projections and Remunerativeness of the proposed route
● First and last mile connectivity provided by the project
● Connection of missing links and providing additional route
● Augmentation of congested/saturated lines
● Demands raised by State Governments/Central Ministries/Public representatives,
● Railway's own operational requirements
● Socio-economic considerations
● Overall availability of funds
§Completion of Railway project/s depends on various factors which include the following:
● Land acquisition by State Government
● Forest clearance
● Shifting of infringing utilities
● Statutory clearances from various authorities
● Geological and topographical conditions of area
● Law and order situation in the area of project site
● Number of working months in a year for particular project site etc.
All these factors affect the completion time and cost of the project/s.
