Enrolment of Children with Special Needs in Government Schools

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of Children with Special Needs (CWSN) and girl students enrolled in
Government/Government-aided and local body schools in the country during the last five years,
year-wise/State-wise, particularly district-wise in Maharashtra, especially in the Washim-
Yavatmal Lok Sabha Constituency;
(b) the number of enrolled students with more than 40 percent disability during the last five
years, year-wise and State/UT-wise, particularly district-wise in Maharashtra;
(c) the number of such girl students who have received scholarships under the Samagra Shiksha
Abhiyan during the last five years;
(d) the details of fund allocated and disbursed in this regard, year-wise and State/UT-wise
particularly district-wise details in Maharashtra; and
(e) the number of Government/Government-aided and local body schools having special
educators/teachers during the last five years, year-wise/State-wise and district-wise in
Maharashtra?

(a) & (b): The details of total number of Children with Special Needs (CwSN) and girl CwSN
enrolled in Government/Government-aided and local body schools in the country during the last
five years, year-wise/State-wise is at Annexure-I.
The district-wise details of total number of CwSN and CwSN girls enrolled in
Government/Government-aided and local body schools during the last five years in Maharashtra
is at Annexure-II.
(c) & (d): Under Samagra Shiksha, there is a dedicated component for Inclusive Education (IE)
for CwSN, to ensure full equity and inclusion such that all children with special needs are able
to fully participate in regular schools. To encourage girl children with disabilities to attend
schools, stipend for girls with special needs @ Rs.200/- per month for 10 months (Rs.2,000/-
per annum) through Direct Benefit Transfer is provided. The details of stipend provided to
CwSN girls under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan during the last five years is at Annexure-III.
(e): The details of total number of Government/Government-aided and local body schools
having special educators/teachers during the last five years, year-wise/State-wise is at
Annexure-IV.
