ESI HOSPITALS IN KERALA
2600. SHRI K RADHAKRISHNAN:
Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to
state:
(a)the details of the funds allocated for the Employees' State
Insurance (ESI) hospitals functioning in Kerala during the last two
years and the current year, year and hospital-wise;
(b)whether the Government proposes to upgrade and modernize ESI
hospitals in Kerala; and
(c)if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT

(a): At present, there are 12 ESI hospitals functioning in the
State of Kerala.
03 ESI hospitals viz. Asramam-Kollam, Ezhukone and
Udyogmandal are run directly by the ESI Corporation.
09 hospitals are under the administrative control of the
State Government. For making adequate provision of Medical
services in these hospitals to ESI beneficiaries, ESIC releases funds
to State Government under the ‘On Account’ payment. Further,
Hospital wise fund allocation is provisioned by State Government.
Details of year wise funds allocation to three ESIC
Hospitals and State Government Kerala are at Annexure.
(b) & (c): Upgradation and modernization of ESI hospitals is a
continuous process. At present, ESI Hospital, Asramam (Kollam) and
ESI Hospital, Ernakulam in Kerala have been taken up for
upgradation/modernization.
