Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the present developmental of the Employees’ State Insurance
Corporation (ESIC) Hospital at Ezhukone in Kollam district, Kerala including
infrastructure, bed strength, available medical facilities and manpower
position;
(b) whether the Government proposes to upgrade or expand the said hospital to
meet the increasing healthcare demands of insured persons and beneficiaries
in the region and if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has examined the possibility of designated ESIC
Hospital at Ezhukone as a satellite campus of the proposed ESIC Medical
College at Kollam in order to optimize resources and strengthen tertiary
medical care in southern Kerala;
(d) if so, the details of any feasibility studies, proposals or inter-departmental
consultations undertaken in this regard; and
(e) the details of the time frame and financial outlay proposed by the Government
for upgradation or integration of the Ezhukone ESIC Hospital with the
upcoming ESIC Medical College at Kollam?

(a) & (b): There were 1,69,410 Insured Persons (IPs) in Kollam district as on
31.03.2025. Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) operates a 150-
bedded Hospital at Ezhukone in Kollam district, Kerala to provide healthcare
services to ESI beneficiaries. The major medical facilities available in this
hospital include medicine, surgery, paediatrics, orthopaedics, gynaecology &
obstetrics, dental, ophthalmology, radiology, chemotherapy, ENT and other
supporting services. The hospital has 233 medical manpower and 161
administrative manpower in position.
In addition, ESIC also operates a 200-bedded ESIC Hospital at
Asramam, Kollam, along with 55 ESIS dispensaries in the district to cater to the
healthcare needs of the IPs.
(c) to (e): Presently, no such proposal has been considered.
