Parliament Question: Establishment of a film city in Bihar

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF INFORMATION & BROADCASTING RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1687 TO BE ANSWERED ON 13.02.2026 ESTABLISHMENT OF A FILM CITY IN BIHAR 1687 : DR. BHIM SINGH: Will the Minister of INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government considers that the film industry can contribute to the overall development of Bihar; and (b) if so, whether any proposal is under consideration for setting up a film city in Bihar? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND PARLIAMENTARY AFFAIRS (DR. L. MURUGAN) (a) & (b): The film industry contributes to employment generation, promotion of tourism, cultural expression, and overall socio-economic development of States, including Bihar. Development of cinema infrastructure, including the setting up of Film Cities is a subject under the State List in the Seventh Schedule. Ministry of Information and Broadcasting supports the film sector through policy and facilitation initiatives, including promotion of India as a filming destination and assistance to film-related activities through the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) in all States of India including in Bihar. ****
