Vikarabad district in Telangana does not currently have an NV. The sanction and opening of new NVs are subject to approval by the competent authority and adherence to established procedures.

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware that Vikarabad is among the economically
backward districts in Telangana, with one of the lowest Gross District Domestic
Product (GDDP) figures for three consecutive years, if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has received any request or has any plans for the
establishment of a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Vikarabad district of Telangana
and Ballari district of Karnataka and if so, the current status thereof;
(c) whether the Government acknowledges that setting up a Jawahar Navodaya
Vidyalaya in Vikarabad would help in promoting quality education and reduce
educational inequality in this economically backward district; and
(d) if so, the timeframe by which the Government proposes to sanction and establish
a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Vikarabad and Ballari?

(a): No such data is maintained in the Ministry of Education.
(b) to (d): The Navodaya Vidyalaya Scheme envisages for opening of one Navodaya
Vidyalaya (NV) in each district of the country. Opening of new NVs is a continuous
process which depends on the willingness of the concerned State Government/UT
administration to make available requisite suitable land, free of cost, for construction
of the permanent building and making available required temporary building, free of
rent, to run the Vidyalaya till the permanent building is constructed. Sanction and
opening of new NVs depends on approval by the competent authority as per extant
procedures.
As per information received from Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), at
present, 09 NVs and 31 NVs are functional in the State of Telangana and Karnataka
respectively. In December 2024, the Govt. of India sanctioned 28 new NVs including
07 NVs (i.e. Jagtial, Nizamabad, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Medchal-Malkajgiri,
Mahabubnagar, Sanga Reddy and Suryapet) in the State of Telangana and 01 NV in
Ballari in the State of Karnataka. VIkarabad district of Telangana does not have NV
at present.
