Parliament Question: Establishment of Railway Coach and Engine Manufacturing Plants in Konkan Region

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1813 TO BE ANSWERED ON 29.07.2026 ESTABLISHMENT OF RAILWAY COACH AND ENGINE MANUFACTURING PLANTS IN KONKAN REGION †1813. SHRI NARAYAN TATU RANE: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government proposes to establish a railway coach and engine manufacturing plant in the Konkan region; (b) if so, the details of the location where the said plants are likely to be established; and (c) the estimated number of jobs likely to be generated by the said plants? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (c) Rail Coach/Locomotives manufacturing units are set up keeping in view the Railways’ overall operational requirement of Rolling Stock. Presently, the existing Production Units and those already planned are sufficient to meet the Railways’ overall requirement of aforesaid Rolling Stock in near future. ***** §
