Parliament Question: EV manufacturing units and proposals from Odisha

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HEAVY INDUSTRIES RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3276 ANSWERED ON 20.03.2026 EV MANUFACTURING UNITS AND PROPOSALS FROM ODISHA 3276. SHRI MANAS RANJAN MANGARAJ: Will the Minister of Heavy Industries be pleased to state: (a) the details of electric vehicle manufacturing units started/commissioned in the last three years in the country, State-wise, including Odisha; (b) the details of such units in Odisha, indicating location, investment, production capacity and employment generated; (c) whether Government of Odisha has submitted any proposal to the Central Government/Ministry for setting up EV manufacturing ecosystem including EV assembly, battery manufacturing, auto components and charging infrastructure during the last three years; and (d) if so, the details of proposals received and the present status of approval/assistance? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR HEAVY INDUSTRIES (SHRI BHUPATHIRAJU SRINIVASA VARMA) (a) & (b): Data on electric vehicle manufacturing units started/commissioned in States/UTs is not maintained centrally. Ministry of Heavy Industries administers Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Automobile and Auto Components Industry in India for enhancing India’s manufacturing capabilities in automotive sector (Including Electric vehicles).
