Parliament Question: Evaluation of NCS Portal

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 5833 TO BE ANSWERED ON 30TH MARCH, 2026 EVALUATION OF NCS PORTAL 5833. SHRI TANGELLA UDAY SRINIVAS: Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state: (a) the details of current status of implementation of the National Career Service (NCS) Portal, including total number of jobseekers, employers and vacancies registered in the country during the last five years, year and State/UT-wise, including district-wise for Andhra Pradesh, particularly in Kakinada; (b) the details of number of placements facilitated through the said Portal during the last five years, year and State/UT-wise; (c) the details of number of Model Career Centres established and employment exchanges integrated with NCS in the country, State/UT-wise, including the said district; (d) whether the Government has undertaken any third-party evaluation to assess effectiveness, transparency and job- matching efficiency of the said Portal; (e) if so, the key findings thereof; (f) the details of funds allocated, released and utilised for maintenance, upgradation and awareness campaigns of NCS during the last five years; and (g) the details of measures proposed by the Government to enhance outreach in rural and aspirational districts? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT (SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE) (a) to (g): The National Career Service (NCS) Portal is a one-stop solution for providing career related services including jobs from private and government sectors, information on online & offline job fairs, job search & matching, career counselling, vocational guidance, information on skill development courses, skill/training programmes etc. through a digital platform [www.ncs.gov.in] to all stakeholders across the country.During last five years, more than 8.10 Crore vacancies have been mobilized through NCS Portal and more than 4.47 crore jobseekers, 56.17 lakh employers are registered on NCS portal across the country till 28.02.2026. In the State of Andhra Pradesh, more than 18.68 lakh jobseekers and 1.80 lakh employers are registered during the same period. State/UT-wise, district-wise and year-wise details of jobseekers registered, employers registered and vacancies mobilized across the country including State of Andhra Pradesh may be seen at https://www.ncs.gov.in/_layouts/15/ncsp/ViewStaticReport.aspx Notifying final hiring figures is not a mandatory requirement on NCS Portal. However, more than 2.16 crore candidates have been shortlisted across the country through NCS Portal during last five years till 28.02.2026. The NCS project also, inter alia, envisaged setting up of Model Career Centres (MCCs) in collaboration with States/Institutions to deliver employment services. As on 28.02.2026, the Government has approved 407 Model Career Centres out of which 30 MCCs have been approved in the state of Andhra Pradesh (including one MCC in Kakinada). State/UT-wise details with the approval year of MCCs may be seen at https://www.ncs.gov.in/User_Manuals/List_of_Model_Career_Centers.pdf. As on date, 31 States/UTs (including Andhra Pradesh) have been integrated with the NCS portal including 8 States/UTs which are directly using NCS Portal. The Government undertakes a systematic review and evaluation of all schemes and programmes before the commencement of each Finance Commission cycle to ensure their continued relevance, effectiveness, and alignment with evolving priorities. Improvements in the portal is a continuous and dynamic process. Changes/updations are planned as per the need of the hour using latest available technology as and when required. The updations of NCS portal includes integration with various job/skill portals (public/private), enhanced AI features, cloud based web applications (for jobseeker and employer), robust verification mechanism, multilingual support, etc. Further, budget allocations and expenditure are as per provision of the scheme. In order to increase awareness and enhance reach of NCS portal regular Social Media posts are released about the availability of services and vacancies on NCS portal. NCS monthly e-newsletters are released to create awareness about new development and activities of NCS. Besides, the Model Career Centres established at the States/UTs regularly conduct various outreach activities viz. workshops, awareness/ orientation programmes for the stakeholders. *****
