(a) the details of key developments undertaken by the Government to expand and
operationalize the PM SHRI Schools scheme in alignment with the objectives of the National
Education Policy (NEP) 2020 across the country particularly in the States of Odisha and
Karnataka including Bengaluru;
(b) the details of additional schools approved or funded recently by the Government along
with the criteria adopted for their selection across the country, State/UT-wise, particularly in
Odisha, especially in Nabarangpur Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency, district-wise in
Karnataka, Darbhanga district in Bihar, Pali and Bhilwara Lok Sabha Parliamentary
Constituencies of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and UT of Jammu & Kashmir
during the last two years;
(c) the details of measures taken by the Government to strengthen infrastructure, teacher
training and digital learning facilities in PM SHRI schools across the country to enable them
to function as exemplar institutions, State/UT-wise including above said Lok Sabha
Parliamentary Constituencies and States;
(d) whether the Government has any plan to open more PM SHRI Schools in tribal dominated
district like Palghar in Maharashtra, if so, the details thereof;
(e) the number of children being benefitted under the said scheme in the State of Rajasthan,
district-wise; and
(f) whether the Government has made any special provisions for the North-Eastern India and
hilly States along with the aspirational districts of the country under the said scheme and if so,

PM SHRI SCHOOLS”
(a): Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) is a centrally sponsored scheme
which aims to strengthen more than 14,500 schools from amongst the existing schools managed
by Central Government/State/UT Government/local bodies. As per the PM SHRI guidelines, a
maximum of two schools per block/Urban Local Body (ULB) are selected with an upper limit
on the total number of schools across India. These schools are to showcase all the initiatives of
National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, be the exemplar schools, and also offer benchmarking
leadership to other schools in the neighbourhood. Till date, a total of 13,076 schools have been
selected from 33 States/UTs along with KVS, NVS, and NCERT covering 8353 blocks/ULBs.
In alignment with the National Education Policy, 2020, PM SHRI scheme has a
provision to saturate PM SHRI schools across the country including the States of Odisha and
Karnataka with various components such as computer lab/ICT lab/smart classrooms, library
with good furniture, internet facility, vocational skill education, guidance and career
counselling, fully equipped integrated science lab/physics lab/chemistry lab/biology lab,
playground with well-equipped sports facilities, school innovation council, youth and eco club
for mission life, Building as Learning aid (BaLa) features and jaadui pitara for primary school
children, 10 bagless days for students, child tracking software for tracking the children
attendance, fully functioning handwashing facility and toilets, green school features etc.
(b): Under the PM SHRI scheme, a total of 13,076 schools have been selected from 33
States/UTs along with KVS, NVS, and NCERT. The State/UT/KVS/NVS/NCERT-wise
number of schools selected under PM SHRI scheme including States of Odisha, Karnataka,
Bihar, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and UT of Jammu & Kashmir, is attached as
Annexure-I.
The criteria adopted by the Government for selecting the schools under the PM SHRI
scheme are provided under “Selection Methodology (Page no. 13-22)” of the PM SHRI
Framework, available at the link: https://pmshri.education.gov.in/assets/pdf/part1_pmshri.pdf.
The number of PM SHRI schools selected from the district of Darbhanga in Bihar and
Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituencies of Nabarangpur in Odisha and Pali and Bhilwara in
Rajasthan are as follows:

(c): To improve infrastructure, all the PM SHRI schools are saturated with components such
as BaLa feature and jaadui pitara, support at pre-school education, child friendly furniture,
outdoor play materials etc. in primary and elementary schools and furniture, fully equipped
integrated science lab/physics lab/chemistry lab/ biology lab, smart classrooms, computer lab/ICT Lab, skill lab, playground with well-equipped sports facilities etc. for secondary and senior
secondary schools.
Further, PM SHRI scheme has a provision to incorporate digital learning in PM SHRI
schools by establishing ICT labs, smart classrooms and digital libraries along with digital
educational content. Platforms like DIKSHA are being utilized to provide a repository of high-
quality digital learning resources, enabling resource-sharing among educators and students.
Under the PM SHRI Scheme, strengthening of teacher training is done through District
Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs). There is financial provision of up to ₹3.00 lakh
per DIET for capacity-building programmes of PM SHRI schools, along with assistance of up
to ₹2,500 per teacher for training of subject teachers, principals, special educators, ICT
teachers, and master trainers. School principals are trained in leadership, management, and
competency-based pedagogical planning. Teachers are also trained on the Holistic Progress
Card, school safety and security, mental health and well-being, first-level counselling, and
integration of ICT in teaching-learning practices thereby enhancing overall teaching quality
and school leadership in PM SHRI schools.
(d): Under PM SHRI scheme, a maximum of two schools per block/ULB are selected with
an upper limit on the total number of schools across India. Further, a total of 23 PM SHRI
schools have been selected from tribal dominated district of Palghar in Maharashtra. The
district-wise details of PM SHRI schools including tribal dominated districts may be accessed

(e): The district-wise number of children being benefitted under PM SHRI scheme in the
State of Rajasthan is attached as Annexure III.
(f): To ensure equal distribution of PM SHRI schools across the country including in North-
Eastern India, hilly States and aspirational districts of the country, the guidelines of PM SHRI
scheme prescribe selection of a maximum of two schools per block/ULB with an upper limit
on the total number of schools across India.
Further, the funding pattern of the PM SHRI scheme is as per the prevalent pattern
announced by Government of India from time to time. At present, the funding pattern is
90(Centre):10 (State) for North Eastern and Himalayan states and UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
