EXPENDITURE AND AUDIT STATUS OF
TOURISM ACTIVITIES IN CHANDIGARH
2428. SHRI MANISH TEWARI:
Will the Minister of Tourism be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the total budget allocated to the Tourism Department,
Chandigarh Administration during the last three financial years,
year-wise;
(b) the details of total amount spent by that Department on organising
and supporting tourism-and culture-related events during the same
period;
(c) the details of total sum paid to artists, performers, event-organisers,
and other service-providers for those programmes during the said
period; and
(d) whether any audit or independent review of the above expenditures
has been conducted and if so, the details thereof along with the
corrective actions and the current status of implementation of the
findings?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT)
(a) to (d): Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, does not allocate any
budget to Tourism Department, Chandigarh Administration. However,
Ministry provides financial assistance to States/UTs for organizing fairs
and festivals. The details of Financial Assistance provided by Ministry of
Tourism to UT Administration of Chandigarh for organizing fairs and
festivals during the last 3 years is given at annexure.
Further, UT Administration of Chandigarh has given the following
point-wise reply:-i. Total budget allocated to the Tourism Department during the last
three financial years is as under:-

been conducted thoroughly and regularly by the O/o Director General
of Audit (Central) under Comptroller and Auditor General of India
(CAG) till 31/03/2023. There is no audit para for any of the above-
mentioned expenditure during the last audit held for period
01/04/2018 to 31/03/2023.
