EXPENDITURE ON THE PRIME MINISTER’S FOREIGN TRIP

Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:-
(a) The total amount (in Rs.) spent on the Prime Minister's foreign trips
since 2014, country; and year-wise; and
(b) The number and designations of the officials/staff accompanying
the Prime Minister on his foreign trips since 2014, country and year-
wise?

(a) During Prime Minister’s visits abroad, the Prime Minister is
treated as a guest of the receiving country and commensurate
hospitality is provided by the host government. The country-wise
expenditure on foreign visits, including the expenditure on official,
accompanying, security, and media delegations since 2014, country
and year-wise, is placed at Annexure-1.
For reference purpose, expenditure on Prime Minister’s foreign
visits earlier were INR 10,74,27,363 (USA, 2011), INR 9,95,76,890
(Russia, 2013), INR 8,33,49,463 (France, 2011), and INR 6,02,23,484
(Germany, 2013). These figures show actual expenditure without
adjusting for inflation or currency fluctuations.
(b) Prime Minister’s delegation on foreign visits consists of
representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of External
2Affairs, other Ministries, security agencies, media agencies and
interpreters.
The size of the delegation between May 2014-present has ranged
between 27-72 depending on functional requirements, with the
exception of a 5-country visit in 2025 where the delegation size was
95.
For reference, the total size of the Prime Minister’s delegation for
visits conducted in 2013 was as follows: 106 (Russia and China -
October 2013); 105 (Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia - October 2013);
99 (US-September 2013); 100 (Russia - September 2013); 107(Japan
and Thailand - May 2013); 110 (Germany - April 2013); 105 (South
Africa - March 2013).
