Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to
state:
(a) whether the Government has received any proposal from the State
Government or local representatives to extend the Bengaluru Metro
Purple Line beyond Whitefield (Kadugodi) to Malur in Kolar district
and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has undertaken or plans to undertake any
pre-feasibility or Detailed Project Report (DPR) studies for such an
extension in view of the growing commuter population and industrial
presence in Malur region and if so, the details thereof; and
(c) whether the Government is considering extending metro
connectivity to Malur under the provisions of the Metro Rail Policy,
2017 and if so, the details along with present status and proposed
timeline thereof?

(a) to (c) ‘Urban planning’ is a State subject. Therefore, the respective
State Governments are responsible for planning, initiating and developing
proposal for development of urban infrastructure including metro
projects. As per Metro Rail Policy, 2017, Central Government considers
financial assistance for Metro Rail proposals in cities or urban
agglomerates based on the feasibility of the proposal and availability of
resources, as and when posed by the concerned State Government.
Government of Karnataka has informed that there is no proposal under
consideration to extend the Bangalore Metro to Malur in Kolar district.
