Extension of PMMSY
338. Shri Maddila Gurumoorthy:
Will the Minister of FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING be pleased
to state:
(a) whether the Government proposes to further extend the Pradhan Mantri Matsya
Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) beyond the financial year 2025–26;
(b) if not, the reasons for discontinuing the scheme despite its role in strengthening the
fisheries sector and employment generation;
(c) the total number of Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) currently working under the PMMSY
scheme in Andhra Pradesh, district-wise;
(d) whether the Government has any plans to regularize the services of skilled MTS staff
who have been working under the scheme for several years; and
(e) whether the Government proposes to provide alternative employment opportunities or
adjustment for these personnel, in case the scheme is not extended, if so, the details thereof?

(a) and (b): The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) was approved for a
period of five years (2020-21 to 2024-25) and since its approved plan period ended on 31st
March, 2025, the scheme period has been extended till end of 15th Finance Commission
Cycle i.e. Financial Year 2025-26.
(c) to (e): The Government of Andhra Pradesh has reported that only one Multi-Tasking Staff
(MTS) is working in the State Programme Unit-PMMSY, Office of the Commissioner of
Fisheries, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada. The engagement of MTS under
PMMSY is purely on contractual basis as per PMMSY norms. The Government of Andhra
Pradesh has reported that the State has no proposal to provide alternative employment
opportunities or adjustment of the MTS beyond in case the scheme period.
